Deleted company credits

I noticed that all credits for Universal International Pictures (UI) [nl] have been deleted. They have not been added under another country code or another company.

Three examples (there are more):
Topaz (1969): Current company credits page vs. the page on April 17
Arabesque (1966): Current vs. May 10
The War Wagon (1967): Current vs. April 24

Also, in all three examples, the credits for National Broadcasting Company (NBC) are also gone.

Can these deletions be undone? I don't think there were many credits for UI [nl] and I could add them again, but I don't have the data for NBC.

Hi FangsNL -

I can see that the company credits you reported were removed by another top contributor who reported that the information was incorrect.  Do you have any online sources to help verify that Universal International Pictures [nl] was a distributor of these titles?

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for your reply. My sources are in Dutch, but that shouldn't be a problem in this case.

On these four newspaper pages there are ads for my examples (Topaz, Arabesque, The War Wagon) and another example (The Evil of Frankenstein).
https://resolver.kb.nl/resolve?urn=ddd:011197851:mpeg21:p022 (Topaz, 1969)
https://resolver.kb.nl/resolve?urn=ddd:011196496:mpeg21:p011 (Arabesque, 1966)
https://resolver.kb.nl/resolve?urn=ddd:110590363:mpeg21:p010 (The War Wagon, 1967)
https://resolver.kb.nl/resolve?urn=ddd:110588715:mpeg21:p010 (The Evil of Frankenstein, 1964)

Some ads literally say “Universal International”, others only “A Universal Film”. The ad for The War Wagon (upper right) says “A Universal Film”, the column on the left says “U.I.” (lower left corner).

Films from Universal of that period (1948-1970) were distributed in the Netherlands by Universal International Films Nederland NV (http://www.cinemacontext.nl/id/R000475). The company was listed on IMDb as Universal International Pictures (UI) [nl] in line with the other regional pages. The official name is Universal International Films, which was later (early 1970s) incorporated into Cinema International Corporation (CIC) [nl].

I have added two links to the official magazine of the Dutch Theatre Union, which mention the new membership of Universal International Films (among other companies) after the disbandment of the Motion Picture Export Association (1), as well as the incorporation into CIC (2).

There have also been a Universal Film Agency and a Universal Film Booking Office in the Netherlands, but these are different, separate companies.

Hope this clears things up.

Hi FangsNL -

Thanks for these excellent sources, I am working on restoring the company credits now, the changes should be live on the site shortly.  I have also taken additional steps to prevent any future incorrect removals.

Cheers!
