My Best Movie of the Decade Criteria:

1- A movie watched need (minimum 3)
2- Need to be rewatchable.
3- Need to be on the top 250.
4-Can't have a bad actor.
5-Need to have an outstanding ending.
6- If no movies perfectly fit the closest contender win, if there is a tie the oldest win.

Current for the 2010s: Inception

So my vote is Inception.

Closest Contender for the 2010s: Joker

My Masterpiece Criteria:

1-Only one movie can be a Masterpiece.
2- If there is two, read the criteria 1
3- If none deserves the Masterpiece classification then there is no Masterpiece.
4-If you doubt, there is no Masterpiece.
5-Masterpiece = 10 out of 10.
6- The Masterpiece needs to be on the top 10 of the movies that made me cry.
7- Needs to fit every Best Movie of the Decade Criteria.
8- Minimum rating 9 out of 10 (My Ratings)

Current: The Shawshank Redemption

Basically it needs to be the best movies of their decade, to be a contender, Joker is there because it is the closest contender of his decade.

Closest Contenders: Joker, Inception, The Dark Knight, Clockwork Orange, Scarface, Psycho, 12 Angry Men, Casablanca,

Some movies like Goodfellas are better in my opinion than some movies in the Masterpiece Contender List, but they are not the best of their decade, Bad Timing.

Why has this been published a month and a half BEFORE the end of 2019? We have many 2010s movies still to be released and rated?

We have been publishing 2010s polls for almost two months now, after holding some of them back for months or years. There are a lot of end-of-decade suggestions, and then there are end-of-year polls and award polls.

When I read other websites or Twitter, the conversation on the best movies of the decade is well underway. Indiewire published their lists in the summer!

But publishers like Indiewire have film critics (who for the most part) have already seen many of the upcoming movies yet to be released (via the film festival circuit Frozen 2 included). I bet many of the lists you're discussing literally take that into account.

As for Narnia's suggestion? The list is maxed out at 35. You can't replace options after a list is published.
