Hi Berchenko,
Do you mean Abkhazia? I do not think it can be considered as an independent territory and therefore should be hosted under Georgia.
Quebec and Catalunya have a strong cinema presence, both in production and festivals, but are registered under Canada and Spain respectively.

Hi Berchenko -
Thanks for your report, I have forwarded your new country request to the applicable team for review. Please know that there are system challenges that make adding these new additions more complicated, so these requests are not reviewed instantly but are reviewed periodically, so we appreciate your patience!

Michelle,
In due time, it would be interesting to know whether IMDb consider Abkhazia as a rightful territory and worth appearing as such in the country list. (Then, will Crimea be considered Russian or Ukrainian? ;)
I would appreciate if you can let us know the outcome, whenever decision is reached.
Thanks in advance.

Vincent, your point of view looks like political biased. Is it bad that 200 000 people will know that their first film festival will be added on IMDB? These people live alone (not like a part of Georgia) 25 years.

Well, I will not get into an argument on who is more politically biased :)
I just state that IMDb is no place for political stances, we are dealing here with data issues and policies (not political!) discussions about IMDb.
Let IMDb define and implement its policy on this matter.

I do not subscribe to that :)
But once again, it is off topic for this forum.

Does Abkhazia even have a "country code"?

Hi, Berchenko.
I see no news for you in the database where all the country codes, if any exists, are open for search:
https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#search
Those codes must be provided by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO is an independent, non-governmental international organization having the Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland.
If the above search engine is not comfortable for you, please be assured that the same information about codes seems to be fast mirrored on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1#Current_codes
IMDb keeps factual data about movies, films, and when someone is going to contribute an additional information about countries those countries go into the base with code and they must, at least, exist.
For your further understanding, a country is a region that is identified as a distinct entity in political geography. Somehow, any country is the result of political processes. But IMDb does not act as a political entity, that's why IMDb may only rely on the above mentioned sources and similar trustful ones to check if a country exists. Otherwise, IMDb should begin its own political activity, but this is against the fundamental principles of IMDb.
In view of all the above, please inform us (common users) here if the new country codes may be checked for existence.
Thank you in advance.

IMDb is no place for political stances, only the internationally acknowledged situations prevail. Kosovo is recognized by the UN, when only 7 countries have recognized Abkhazia (Russia, Syria, Venezuela, Tuvalu, Nauru, Nicaragua and Vanuatu; check Wikipedia).
There is also the case of the Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is recognized only by Turkey...
This is only my 2 cents, as I am no IMDb staff. So I will let them decide over your request.
