Hello, On Nov. 7, 2015 I submitted some updates regarding my film. I don't see them yet.  The receipts are: 151107-163407-206000 and 151107-211332-816000. Should I assume they were rejected? If so, why? How can I resubmit and ensure they will be accepted? It's very important. Thank you.

You didn't say what section you were updating, but in this case it is moot. According to the
Data Processing Times page, the oldest outstanding submission for any section is from December 21, 2015. Therefore, you can assume that your submissions were processed and rejected.

IMDb may need some evidence of the accuracy of the submissions. If you post the contents of the  submissions (you can find the information in the email that would have been sent when you submitted), other Contributors can likely give you more explicit information on just what evidence would be best.

Thank you for the advice. A clarification: My contributions relate to my own film-- it is in post-production, although imdb lists it as completed in 2013. I tried to change that without success so far.

Here are the contributions:

1. IMDb update receipt #151107-211332-816000

Contribution Details
  • I Spend Time with Making: Lucas Samaras (2013)
    • Release Dates - Delete
      • Country: Greece
        Date: 5 November 2013
        Attribute: (Thessaloniki International Film Festival)
Explanation: The screening was an early rough cut. The final version is not ready yet.

2. IMDb update receipt #151107-163407-206000

Contribution Details

I Spend Time with Making: Lucas Samaras (2013)
  • Production / Development Status - Add
    • Status: Post-production
      Update: 7 November 2015

I am not sure, but I expect that the second submission was not processed because the film was set to Released on Nov 24, 2013. Changing it back to Post-prod would be 'unreleasing' it, which doesn't make sense. Until a film is Released, it is possible to go back and redo steps, but once it is Released, it is not possible to go back.

I am not sure that IMDb will allow you to remove the current Release Date. They tend to regard the first showing of a film as its Release, and will not usually adjust the year in the title to any other date.  I doubt that they will accept the deletion of the current Release Date unless you can show that your film was not actually shown there.

I believe it would be possible to change the status if it was incorrect, but in this case I don't think it is. IMDb has said in the past that even work-in-progress screenings count as release dates as long as they are public screenings.

Thank you. Yes, there was a public screening of the work in progress. What should I do now, in your opinion?

Thank you. Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. I am still working on the film and a 2013 release date creates obvious problems.

I don't think you can do anything that you have not already tried.

I see. Can I delete the project for now? Thank you for your time.

Basically the only reason IMDb will accept for deleting a Title is that the Title has never been made available to the public and will not be made so in the future.

Your Title fails both parts of this: it has been 'Released' and an upgraded version will be released in the future.  IMDb will not remove the listing. Sorry.

Thank you for you time. That's all a bit Kafkaesque, in my opinion. OK- if I can bother you once more: what should I submit to imdb when my film is actually completed? Things will be different, including the running time, cast, crew etc.  Do I have to give my film a new title, for instance, and resubmit it? How do others handle such a problem? Thanks again.
