Can't change the region

My phone is in English, but I live in Italy. I've enabled the location in the app settings (both manually and using the device location), but I cannot set my region to Italy and as a result I have the wrong release dates. See the attached screens.

If I change the language of my phone to Italian, then I'm indeed able to select Italy as my region. Since I need to keep my phone in English what am I supposed to do? Thanks!

Hi Giorgio,

Apologies for the trouble! Please try deleting the app and downloading again to see if this resolves the issue. If it still persists, please write back with the following:
- your device model
- your Android OS version
- your IMDb app version

Reinstalling did not solve the issue, I still see US/UK release dates (for instance the Ad Astra release date is wrong and One Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is not out here yet, is not even among the coming soon movies).

My device is a Motorola One Vision with the latest security patch (1 August 2019) of Android 9. The IMDB app is updated as well, version 8.0.2.108020102. But I've experienced the same issue with my old phone, an LG G4 with Android 6 and the latest update of IMDB as well.

Thanks.

Still no idea on what causes the bug? It's been a month... I've reached out to some friends and if they set their phone in English they have the same problem as well. It's a quite widespread bug.

Three months now. Can we have an update? Do you even care? This is one of the worst support I've ever experienced.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Can't change the region.

I will simply link my older topic since nobody has answered in the last three months. Not even an update or "we are still looking into this" even after countless requests.

This is a serious bug that you are ignoring, and makes the app completely useless if the language on the phone is different from country you live in. Do you even care?

Seriously? You merge the topic without giving an answer? Are you kidding? I'm deleting the app now. This is the worst support ever.

Hi Giorgio,

You'll need to set your phone's location (not just the app to Italy) to see if this resolves the issue. Otherwise you will need to wait for a fix from our team.

Thanks for your continued patience

My location is on, of course. I also see the movie theaters nearby, but the rest of the app still believes I'm in the UK.

I've been waiting for a fix for four months, so the developers had plenty of time. I'm switching to another app.
