Cannot Delete False Credit From My Page

Dear IMDB,

I have one credit on my IMDB page that is incorrect. I have submitted corrections through the normal channels for (I believe) a few years and I still have not been able to get it corrected. I have successfully done many credit additions/corrections in the past but for some reason this one will not be deleted from my page and no explanation has ever been given why. Here's my page:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1858681/

And the incorrect credit is the oldest one and the only one I have in the Miscellaneous Crew section. It lists me as a poster designer for this title: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0865564/

I never designed a poster for this title or worked on it in any way. I do work with the film's director often and we talked about me doing one but it never happened. He added me in error. Although it's not a huge deal I try to keep my page as accurate as possible and this false credit is a little frustrating.

I know this is the second problem I reported today, I apologize. I'm just catching up on some problems I've been trying to solve for awhile. Thanks for you time and any help you can give me.

I know it's hard to prove something that never happened, but what did you give as a reason to delete it? Also, do you have your most recent submission number so a staffer might take a look and check the status?

The site is wary about attempts to delete things because people frequently like to manipulate their page to look better. So, they prefer the credit get moved to the right page. If you discussed this with the director, and it never happened, can you get the name of the person who eventually did the work? It'd be easier to move it to the right page rather than delete it. Otherwise, you really can only say that you're the person and you've never worked on that title, and hope they accept it. Or, possibly ask him to correct what he's submitted. If he's the director and telling them it's the other name, it should get accepted.

It's been so long since my last attempt to delete it that I don't have a reference number, like I mentioned I've been trying for years. I had all but given up but when I saw this forum I thought I might finally find some help.

I completely understand about the suspicion on a deletion. The poster was never done so there's nowhere to move a credit that does not exist. There is no other name. I have stated in my correction submissions exactly what I have stated here but it never went through.

I guess I'm just stuck with the incorrect credit.

Re: This forum...

Well, the site always had a Help Forum which was moved here, though the Contributors Help Forum would have been the more appropriate place, fielded by staff and expert data contributors. It's still there and would still probably be the better place to ask since those expert contributors don't seem to come here too much. But, since you're here, you might resubmit it, then post the submission number you receive, and ask staffers for assistance. Also, did you check in your update history to see if the last one is there? It's pretty old, though, so it might not matter what was submitted (and obviously go rejected). I'd say, resubmit then add the new ID here. Then see what staff can do about getting it approved.

It is a tricky one and the usual fixes don't work (there is no point finding out who the credit is for, or splitting it off as it is a genuine mistake and should be removed).

As BMSF says, resubmit and post the ID here, but when you submit include the link to this thread, as it gives a clear explanation as to why this isn't just a credit that should be switched to someone else (which is the standing assumption). That, plus the staff here following up on the ID should help nail this one - it, as you know too well, isn't going to go through easily but it is worth persisting and with a belt and braces approach like that you stand the best chance of getting this to work.

Hello, I just thought I'd check in and mention that it's been 4 months now and the problem still isn't fixed. It's not a huge deal but I would still love to get it corrected. Any new ideas? Thanks in advance!

OK. Just to double check: Are you on the credits for this short? When you say "He added me in error.", did the director add you to the film's credits by accident or did you mistakenly add your credit here on IMDB? If the former then there doesn't seem much you can do as IMDB includes everyone on the credits (although it might be you can get the "credit only" attribute added, this is usually applied for actors who are, for example, in a TV series that credits the stars in the titles, even if they don't appear in that specific episode) if the latter then we can get it removed with a bit of work.

Assuming you aren't in the credits, we have two angles of attack:

* Contact the director and ask him to remove the credit - as he (presumably) added it a "whoops, I made a mistake" removal from him would be more likely to go through.

* Get a screenshot of the credits (perhaps you'd need the director to help on this) and submit it as evidence your name isn't on it, using this form:

Nope, I'm not in the credits for the short. I have no way to get a screen shot so I guess I'll have to see if he'll submit a removal for me.

You could ask the director for a screenshot as a compromise.

Mr. Cairella-- is there an email address where we can contact imdb employees to report site-related problems in a non-public forum?
