Cannot remove writers from Swamp Thing

My understanding of IMDb's new policy on "characters created by" credits means that two existing credits on Swamp Thing should be removed as they are not credited. I tried to remove them in contribution #200716-052417-029000 but the edit was declined.

The policy I'm referring to states: "We will no longer be accepting any uncredited "characters created by" credits on any title adapted from an existing source. The complexities and ambiguities in the creative process across writers involved in the genesis and the specific version of a character that appears in any adaptation means that it is not feasible to accurately represent their individual input."

The two credits that should be removed are:

Wein, Len                    (comic book)              2,1,1
Wrightson, Bernie       (comic book)              2,2,1

Neither one of these credits exist in the movie. The only reference to the comic book is to note that it is based on the DC comic.

Unlike The Return of Swamp Thing, there are no credits for the comic book originators in the end credits. So, according to IMDb policy, these two credits should be removed, correct?

Adrian, it might be a borderline case, since uncredited character credits are ineligible, but uncredited source material credits, on the other hand, comic book included, are eligible. Or at least seem to be, for now.

Maybe but I doubt it for several reasons. First, the above credit which states that it is based on characters from the comic, not a specific comic. Second, the sequel has a credit specifically for "created by" credits. Third, I've never seen "comic book" as an on screen credit. These credits have probably existed since the movie was added to the database, long before a lot of the guidelines were established.

By IMDb guidelines, these shouldn't exist. (Also, uncredited comic book shouldn't be eligible either as it falls into the same broad category of it is hard to determine who created a comic book and unless they are specifically credited, they should be excluded.)

Thanks for your post.
Both of these credits have now been removed as they were uncredited additions should have had an 'uncredited' attribute added to them. However, in line with our policy update these credits are not eligible.

Thanks for flagging this.
