Cannot add credit - automatically rejected due to 3 repeated letters

Am trying to add the credits for opening title sequence to Edwin Brienen's GOD
However it is automatically rejected due to three repeated letters in Aaron VIII (it should also be all caps).

Name is correct and as appears on screen - is there a way to override this?

There is no "way" around this. But don't be disheartened. An IMDb employee will have to address this. They are the only ones that can push the credit through. They will come along eventually here. Be patient and wait. Saw your photography work on your web page.
Awesome stuff!

Hi Aaron -

Unfortunately, the form doesn't allow the submission of three repeat letters.  One way around this is to submit your credit under your name "Aaron" without the roman numeral, and then once approved you can then request a name change.

In the meantime, do yo have a screen grab of your on-screen credit for this title?

Hi, Aaron:

Could you please post a short clip of these titles?

Aaron VIII, IMDb listing should say "title design" instead of "opening title design", as it should correspond closely with the what credits say (plus attribute is usually for things like "uncredited", "credit only", pseudonyms, version, removal fact and so forth).

Also, as a title design aficionado I must say that even from this screenshot titles/credits look great!

Ahh noted, will update that. Was just trying to differentiate, as somebody else did the end titles (as already noted on the film)

Aaron VIII in order to differentiate it's probably better to formulate the credit as "title designer: main titles" or akin to that. However IMDb has a preference for on-screen formulation, so it's usually reserved for cases like when in the end credits there is a section for, eg. Opening Sequence and credit is there. It will be listed as "title designer: opening sequence" in such cases.

Have submitted it as #190424-225412-721000 with just Aaron. So hopefully somebody on the staff side can update it correctly.

I'll have to upload a clip from the video as it's not online anywhere at the moment.

Here is the first minute or so. I don't have the full video, I've messaged Emma to try and get hold of it.

Aaron VIII sorry if that's an off-topic comment, but that is a jaw-dropping great main title sequence if I've seen one... And I've seen thousands. Love everything from use of different mediums and fonts to subtle but effective animation.

Aaron, I would have expected a different answer from you... You know what I mean...

And I agree with Nikolay that the title sequence is awesome...

Thankyou @Nikolay Yeriomin that's really kind. The whole thing was done with next to no budget as a favour for Edwin who's a friend of mine.
I'm mainly a fashion photographer so it was my first time doing something like this but would love to do more with film.

I shot a bunch of footage for it and did the animations, my friend Emma did the cut and we overlaid and worked in some of her 16mm footage.  There's a few things I would have changed if we had more time but it was a bit of a rush job, we sent the final version off to Edwin the night before it premiered in Berlin.

Aaron, I would like you to be the one who comments what's happening here... You've already explained that it was a bit of a rush job and I sincerely think that the sequence is formidable... but the thing you know ought to be reflected on the database, sorry...

Aaron VIII, doesn't feel like a rush job at all, though. I hope to see you taking more title design jobs in the future!

Ok, a hint...

And something as a contributor you should read carefully (mostly for future updates...)

If you confess now no one would think you've done it maliciously... It's an understandable mistake due to the pressure of the premiere (there are lots of similar instances in the database), but your reliability for future contributions might be compromised otherwise.

Nothing malicious there, it’s something we fixed in the cut as as Emma did the editing I only had an earlier version m. Have asked her and Edwin about getting hold of it so will link when I have it

(For the record the typo was double r instead of double a, something I picked up on right away being that it’s my own name)

Thanks for admitting it... The problem is that the sequence with the typo was used in the premiere, and credits on must reflect the on-screen titles of the first release, so, once your page is created, unfortunately the attribute (as Arron VIII) must be attached to your credit.

If I were you I would also add a bio trivia explaining the circumstances of the mistake, which are very interesting (sent the night before the premiere, etc...)

In the meantime, until a corrected version is made (if ever), you should re-upload the full video to Vimeo, because, again, it is great, and it's a pity that currently almost no one can watch it entirely.

Except the version that I found on my computer and took the screenshot from was NOT the finished version that went through to the screen — upon checking, I only had the first cut which had this along with few other corrections made along with a sequence change to some of the animated parts, which is why I only added the first minute to Vimeo as that part stands as-is.

Feels quite long-winded but thats how it went down, as I shot the last sequences (the spinning Mary statues, cross and statuettes as seen on Vimeo) only a few nights before the premiere then left it all with Emma Varker who was doing the cut to finish. There were a few different cuts done over the next few days while we fine-tuned it.

Sorry, Aaron, but I don't buy it. Look:

That's a screenshot of the Vimeo page where you could find what you call a "first cut" of the title sequence, since it contains the typo.

I'm a bit old around here so, when I saw the typo, I took precautions and saved the screenshot with the upload date and a copy of the full 2:32 mins video.

That version was published on 29 December 2016, exactly the same day of the film's release, so it's hard to believe that a corrected version of the sequence (without the typo) was made that same day, before the film premiere... Then, when Michelle asks you to provide a screenshot of your name in the credits, is a bit suspicious that, rather than posting a screencap of the finished version (you've had more than 2 years to amend it), you photoshopped a still frame of that "first cut"... Finally, when I offered you the chance to post a clip of the supposedly amended version, suddenly the original "first cut" video disappears from internet, and coincidentally the newly uploaded title sequence lacks the part where your name is shown...

Ok, not trying to get into an argument on  the internet as I already explained what happened.

That vimeo link was not even supposed to be public which is why it was removed when I realised it was. You'll notice that the video also doesn't appear on Youtube or anywhere else either as was the film may be released and. Once this is sorted that public link will be removed too until Edwin confirms whats happening with the film.

I was surprised that we weren't already credited on IMDB for the titles since the rest is there, and obviously the reason is that because the name is rejected it went into the too hard basket for whoever added the film to the site leaving it up to me to sort out.

And I'm telling you again that I don't think you're being malicious... The only thing I'm trying to say is that there's too much evidence that the title sequence shown the day of the first release unfortunately contained the typo and that circumstance needs to be captured on , as per their rules, by adding the (as Arron VIII) attribute when your name page is up.

There's nothing more. I truly admire your work.

Whatever. Have it. I don't care anymore. Don't bother adding the credit at all to be honest, I already explained what happened with the vimeo. But if it makes you feel good you can put it as Micky mouse or whatever you want. I honestly regret wasting my time trying to get credited for my work on this site its been nothing but a waste of energy.

Delete the whole thread for all I care
