Mrs Elton played by Juliet Stevenson appears to be referring to her husband, Mr Elton, as Mr Reeves, for some unknown reason in the scene where Emma played by G.P. first meets her. Mr and Mrs Elton are in the drawing room at Emma’s, having tea with Emma and Mrs Elton keeps referring to her husband as Mr Reeves. Is this in the book and meant to portray her coarseness - she can’t remember her husband’s name, or more likely is it a complete mistake but they didn’t want to re-shoot. Most likely, I’ve missed something in the plot or even misheard her, but I’m wondering if maybe the film just got disseminated with this ridiculous error in it, in the hope that nobody would notice. Does anyone else know about it?

Hi,

I think she says "Mr. E.", which is also in the novel. When she says "Mr. E.'s", that could be misheard as "Mr. Reeves."
