I received a promotional email today for Buy One ticket; Get One free for Beautiful Boy. When I click on link to get tickets, AVG gives me an error message -- "site can't be reached" because it's detected as "phishing." I tried several times with the same result. What's going on?

Hi Chris,

Did this email claim to be sent from IMDb?

Thanks in advance for confirming!

The "r.imdb.com" URL redirects to an "atm.tk" URL.

Yes, this is the correct routing - are you able to arrive on the Atom tickets page, or is your browser preventing the routing?

If so, please try this on a new browser or device and let me know if you are still having issues.

Both Firefox and Chrome complain: "Secure Connection Failed" (on Firefox, depending upon the URL path) or "The connection was reset" (consistently on Chrome, and conditionally on Firefox). What's interesting is wget's output:
--00:08:50-- https://atm.tk/boy?ref_=eml_btn_btn
           => `boy?ref_=eml_btn_btn'
Resolving atm.tk... 67.199.248.13, 67.199.248.12
Connecting to atm.tk|67.199.248.13|:443... connected.
ERROR: Certificate verification error for atm.tk: unable to get local issuer certificate
ERROR: certificate common name `bit.ly' doesn't match requested host name `atm.tk'.
To connect to atm.tk insecurely, use `--no-check-certificate'.
Unable to establish SSL connection.
Unlike the normal web browsers, wget provides the option for the SSL certificate to be ignored/overlooked, so technically the page can be reached.

Hi Chris,

We have tried to reproduce this issue and were not able to, so I suspect the issue is being caused by your browser or email client settings.

I would recommend attempting to open the link using a different browser or device - you could try to copy the link and paste it directly into several browsers to see if this was the case.

CliffJ,

Are you seeing the same issue when you try to click the link, or are you being correctly routed to:

I'm probably running the same thing. Must be some kind of false positive.

Thanks for the additional info, all! We are looking into this so I will keep you posted.

Just to note, this email was sent by IMDb and redirects to our partner, Atom Tickets. Neither of us are phishing, and if you wish you can confirm that the certificate is valid and connection is secure on the page that you should be arriving on:

https://www.atomtickets.com/movies/beautiful-boy/267184

You can also use this link to take advantage of the promotion, if you are interested.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Hi all,

Just following up here, we do have a plan to prevent the redirect for future promotions that take you offsite like this one. Apologies for the inconvenience and virus false-alarm.
