Back to the Future (1985)

I lived in NYC in the 1980s, and one day when my cousin was visiting, circa 1984 - 1985, we walked into a film shoot in Manhattan - I think it was on 8th Avenue, maybe around 50th Street.  We were told that it was "Back to the Future".  It seemed as if it was quite a complex operation, too, with streets roped off and cameras.   Filming dates coincide, but there is no mention of this particular filming location; they are all on the West Coast.  Can anybody verify this?  Thanks very much!

Thanks!  I watched BTTF last night, and there is no hint of New York City anywhere in the film.  I am puzzled because I thought I had identified the scene several decades ago and had discussed it with my cousin who has since passed away.  I am going to have to study your list.  It was a street scene involving vehicles (I think) as I mentioned in my original post.
