Auto play ads interrupt Apple TV

If I’m airplaying a movie or YouTube video from my phone to my Apple TV and then check IMDb, some movie pages have ads or movie banners that autoplay. This automatically pauses the video and airplays whatever is on the IMDb page. Is there a way to shut off IMDb’s autoplay features?

Hi KC,

I'm forwarding this information to our technical team to investigate further. Can you please provide us with the following additional information?
  • iPhone model
  • iOS version
  • IMDb app version
  • Title page where the ad/banner plays and interrupts your AirPlay broadcast
Thanks in advance.

Model: iPhone 7. iOS Version: 11.4.1 (15G77). IMDb version: 8.12. Every movie page where there is an animated movie poster or video clip that autoplays when you open the page. Almost all of the big budget movies or tv shows currently out in theaters or recently out on video will do this like Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Game of Thrones, etc. Also, videos that autoplay when you scroll down will disrupt the AirPlay. IMDb will disrupt videos played on any app such as iTunes, the TV app, YouTube, Quicktime, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.

Hi KC,

Our technical team has confirmed that you can turn off the autoplay of the in-line video ads on the next one you experience by tapping the three dots at the top right corner of the advertising widget.

Please let us know if we can offer any further help.

This not solved, please not mark it as solved, these things still interrupt the AirPlay. I do not see three dots at the top right of an advertising widget. This page here is an example of what takes over the AirPlay...

Hi KC,

At this time, the IMDb app does not support AirPlaying other content while the app is in use. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I am adjusting this post to an "Idea" so the app team can review your feedback as they work on future releases.

Thank you for your understanding!
