Another victim of review abuse

Hi,
A while ago I set myself a project of reviewing all the individual episodes of 'Once Upon a Time' (have been doing the same with other shows as well). This was a project I took pride in and put a lot of effort and thought in. As of now, I have reviewed the episides of five of the seven seasons. I found from a week or two ago that somebody down-voted all my Season 5 reviews in a matter of minutes, the latest being a couple of days ago with the season finale within half an hour or so of the review being approved. Out of curiosity, I typed my username and 'Once Upon a Time' into the google search engine to check whether my reviews for the previous four seasons were down-voted. I wasn't all that surprised to find that they all were, either from 1 out of 1 to 1 out of 2 or nothing to 0 out of 1.

Many of the earlier episodes had more than one review and there were some written well before me that have no useful/non-useful votes and they have not been down-voted. So I do feel that whoever is responsible is targeting me for reasons that are a mystery to me. Just to say, it is not that people are not finding my reviews useful that is upsetting me. It is that all of my reviews for the show have been targeted and in a ridiculously short period of time that is and that I don't know why it's happening.

They are all my own work and I feel none of them violate terms and conditions. My reviews always aim to be perceptive and respectful, and more evaluations rather than just gushing or panning. I do feel there is nothing wrong with the reviews, I will admit there is similar wording in solely the show overview and that for the overall season, because wgen doing that it applies to the whole show and season, that should not be a reason for such treatment as it is my business how I word ny reviews and nobody elses and I am not harming anyone or anything. But I always outline what is good and bad about the episode, point out individual subplots and scenes that work and don't without giving anything crucial away and cite performances that stand out as good and say if there are exceptions, so I am saying a huge deal about the episodes themselves.

Is there a possibility that this is sorted out because it is fishy behaviour and I feel review abuse? Preferably the negative vote being removed and the person (s) blocked or contacted directly as a warning. This may seem like a non-issue but actually for an autistic person with anxiety and health problems it does feel worrying when you and your reviews are being targeted in a suspiciously short period of time for reasons unknown. Until this is dealt with indefinitely, I have been put off carrying on with the project and writing reviews for Seasons 6 and 7 if I and the reviews are going to be treated this way. If there is anything wrong with the reviews or if I've done anything wrong, I apologise in advance and will take it on board and address it as much as I can. There is never any deliberate intention in breaking any rules.

Thank you and sorry for the rambling.

Hi, Bethany. If the user accounts from which the suspicious votes originate cannot be confirmed to be spam accounts (meaning subject to summary deletion), then nothing can be done about the votes. While the IMDb site authorities will delete users' lists and reviews if those objects are in violation of IMDb policy, they have not been known to rescind users' movie ratings and review "helpfulness" votes. If I understand correctly; when an IMDb user account is suspended, things like ratings, votes and reviews created through it are suspended with it, but the lists created through it are not automatically suspended. It may differ for when a person deletes his/her own account versus when an account is deleted by the site authorities.

Thanks Michelle, much appreciated. And thank you Jeorj for confirming what I already suspected but hoping
wasn't the case. Looking back what I said regarding that was an over-reaction, that was just me feeling frustrated and confused by this situation. If I have made a genuine mistake and what has happened is not abuse I hold my hands up and hope I don't inconvenience anyone, it just seems very suspicious to me.
