Android app extremely slow when logged in

For at least a couple of years the Android app has been nearly useless to me. Constantly freezes and generally very slow. Have recently noticed there is no issue if I log out of my IMDb profile. I see many others have the same problem, but still no fix. Any ideas? Since it might be profile related: I have a huge watchlist (5000+). Also located in Norway, I have been wondering if ads might be the issue. Samsung S10+.

Hi Eirik,

There should be no difference between the speed of the app when you are logged out vs logged in - this is dependent on the amount of data on the page you are loading and the strength of your internet connection. We have made a recent update to the app that improves loading times, so I would recommend downloading the latest version of the app to see if this helps. It will also help to connect to a Wifi connection whenever possible.

I was sure to share this feedback with the Android team for consideration in future updates. Thanks for taking the time to reach out!

Hi! Just to confirm, the problem remains. I understand there "should not" be a difference, but there is. If I log out of the app when it hangs, it immediately begins to function properly. The pattern cannot be misinterpreted. I have a 500 Mbps internet connection, should be enough to handle the app. Also auto updating all my apps, so any new versions have not addressed the problem. Please let me know if you need more details, but it seems that IMDb aren't too keen on solving this.

Don't you mean 500 Kbps? Which is .500 Mbps. If you live in a rural area, during peak time the support equipment bandwidth is slowing down your app. Happens to me all the time.

Ridiculous!

I have 4G and my speed averages around 5Mbps D.L. and 4.5Mbps U.L.
You cant be 100 times faster than real-world numbers (Like Mine) or 20 times faster than the news article referenced above. Not Possible.
Fiber optic Home systems rarely see 50Mbps.

To clarify: I mean I pay for a 500 Mbps internet connection, and I am referring to wifi use. I understand the mobile speed is nowhere near that (just clocked 65d/21u), but the point I was trying to make is that the connection can't be the cause of an app not working. The app is actually freezing, it's not just slow. And I don't have this issue with any other apps.
