I'm trying to add a release date to the series American Eats (June 29 2006, according to the date of its first episode), but only the Correct/Delete option appears in the Release Date menu, which won't let me go further because there isn't already a date listed.

Toby: I am not sure what the problem is. 29 June 2006 is already listed as the release date for the series "American Eats". See http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0965701/releaseinfo.

In general, for a series that is in the database and has episodes listed, the release date for the series cannot be edited at series level. Instead, the release date for the first episode should be edited. But in this case, I don't know what needs to be edited.

Huh. That's strange, because when I look at its main page it comes up as "American Eats" (????). Same when I run a search with "Year Ascending" or "Release Date Ascending"

Toby: You probably have your site settings set to "reference view" at https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb/siteprefs. I just checked, and indeed this title is showing up as "American Eats" (????) in reference view. In regular view, it shows up as "American Eats" (2006).

Sometimes reference view and regular view are not synchronized with each other, but when that happens, they usually catch up within 2 days.

I used to use reference view because I like it better, but I felt like I had to switch to regular view because I wasn't seeing IMDb the way other people described it, so it was hard for me to advise them.
