Alternate name removal

Hello,

My name is Anthony Jon, and I have a question removal of an alternate name. I am not exactly sure why, but on my imdb account, it has an aka of 'Anthony DiBartolomeo'. I think this may have been a mistake by the person who made this page, as I have never been credited under this name (I have always been credited as Anthony Jon; it may have been added prior to completing a project, and my mother's last name is DiBartolomeo. There may have been some confusion, as I legally have my father's last name (Jon, shortened from Jonas, which I use for all credits)). I tried to correct the alternate name section, but I received a message stating that it has been 'locked'. One of the filmmakers I worked for has attempted to change it for me, to no avail. Is there any way I can go about correcting this?

Best wishes,
Anthony Jon

Anthony: The IMDb is now listing alternate names based only on whether a person was credited in a film/television show/videogame by that alternate name.

At http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4760732/, you are listed as being credited as "Anthony DiBartolomeo" in three productions: "Mark of the Dog Rose", "We Have a Fine Home", and "Cantabridgia" (the latter for your editing credit only).

Do you have, or can you get, screen captures or clips of the credits of those three productions to show that you were actually credited in them under your standard IMDb name, Anthony Jon, as opposed to Anthony DiBartolomeo?

Once you get them, someone here can advise you how to bring those screen captures/clips to IMDb's attention so that your credited name for those titles will be corrected, and once that has been done for all of them, the alternate name ought to be removed.

The locked issues doesn't seem to be involved in your case. It seems you were credited in:

We Have a Fine Home
and
Cantabridgia

as Anthony DiBartolomeo. The AKA is automatically derived from those credits. If you were indeed credited that way, the AKA should remain so as not confuse people or make it seem there is an error to correct.

If you were not credited that way and those items are incorrect, you can "edit page" and correct them but might need some evidence, like a screen capture of the on screen credits.

Thank you both for your responses. I can certainly grab screen captures to confirm that I was credit as 'Anthony Jon'.

Best,

Anthony: I suggest uploading the screen captures to a free photo-sharing site such as Photobucket, PostImage, or Tinypic. Then submit corrections for each of the credits that is listed for you as being (as Anthony DiBartolomeo) in order to remove that attribute, and check the box for "provide an explanation to assist in processing this change" for each correction you make. When you get to the point where you can submit the explanation, state that you were credited under your primary name, Anthony Jon, and provide the URL of the appropriate screen capture as proof for each correction.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

How do I add the screen grab when I edit the credit?

When submitting the correction, check the box marked "check the box for "provide an explanation to assist in processing this change". Then click "Check these updates".

On the next screen, there will be an explanation box, where you can write something along the lines "I am Anthony Jon and I played this role, and I was credited under my primary name, not an alternate name. A screen capture of my credit can be seen at http://www.photobucket.com/...", providing the exact URL where your screen grab for that film can be found.
