This doubles a post I left as a question; at another user's suggestion, listing it as an "idea" (same as suggestion, right? sorry, newb here).I suggest restoring the old function whereby lists can be sorted by a movie's basic/original release date, not just its U.S. release date. This capability was lost during a recent makeover of the list functions, and it was reportedly going to be brought back... but that was a while ago now.

Well, it's another few years later and we're STILL waiting for this change. It's weird because each of theseĀ lists (Watchlist, YourĀ Ratings, etc) still includes the year column. It's just the capability to click on it to sort got taken away, and was replaced by the inferior "Sort by US release date" (for which many titles have either inaccurate or absent data). You'd think it would be a simple matter to restore that functionality, but alas.

Absolutely right: the US release date is decidedly inferior. Quite a few foreign releases show up decades after they were made (especially where the director achieved international prominence thanks to a later film, which prompted US distributors to pick up his back-catalog), and, as you note, some don't even show up at all, so a date sort puts them up with the very newest releases.

It would be very helpful and probably easy to bring back this basic function.
