Why is it so hard to add a himself/herself appearance as a credit? I thought it used to be an upfront option. I just tried to add someone (who only has appearances as herself, as she is not an actress but professional who appears in documentaries, etc) and the only options were "actor/actress" or "non-actor/actress." Under the non-actor part, there were only crew roles listed, and an "other" box. I added it to "other" and got a message that "'Herself' is usually associated with the Animation department. Would you like to leave it in the Animation department"? I googled the process and found that it should be submitted under "character" (OK) so I ended up just re-submitting it as an actress credit with the character of "herself" but got an error that said, "She has no credits in this section yet. Would you like continue?" Since she already has "herself" credits, I assumed I was doing it wrong, but just submitted anyway and hope whoever looks at the submission can correct it.
Considering the large number of people who appear as themselves in TV and documentaries, this is overly complicated. IMDB, please put "self" as an option in the non-actor/actress submission list!!!
