'Add New Title' BUG

Adding less than three castmembers to a New Title will prompt the 'Provide Explanation' box.

Last week i've added new titles with only 1 castmember and they got approved. Since this week every new title with less than 3 castmembers added prompts the box. I've tested it with different titles.

I can't find new rules for New Titles about number of castmembers so this must be a bug.

True: When you submit only 1 or 2 cast members for a new title, are you also submitting any writers, producers, composers, cinematographers, or editors?

The New Titles form says that 3 items are normally needed from the Major Credits (Cast, Writers, Producers, Composers, Cinematographers, and Editors) categories for a new title. With any combination of three people from those departments, you should be able to submit the title.

If you are entering a title with less than 3 cast members, but also adding enough writers/producers/composers/cinematographers/editors to bring your total Major Credits up to 3, please post here screen captures of the New Titles form, from the top of the page to the bottom, so we can try to resolve the problem further.

I've submitted some titles with one "cast" member (stand-up comedy, music video, etc. can be that way) but added other "crew" as gromit82 suggested and had no problem.

(I'm not part of the IMDB moderators/team)

This is mainly my personal opinion, but I would at least (also) add the "main" cast & crew when adding completely new titles. Especially if I have the information at hand. Meaning director, (main) producer(s), screenwriters, cinematographer, editor, composer...

To me It feels a bit odd to click on the title which has just one person listed on the credits. You begin to wonder that is it some kind of mistake etc. So I see the logic behind the "adding enough writers/producers/composers/cinematographers/editors to bring your total Major Credits up to 3" policy that IMDB has.

Hi True Detective -

I will check on the requirements for submitting new title data information to determine if there is any existing bug in the system, in the meantime, can you provide a screen-grab of your submission form with the rejection?

Sorry i haven't checked back since i was abroad. Now i see that its been updated with

"Major Credits (3 items required) "

However, those 3 items can be the same person.

I'm just following-up here to confirm that the current behavior displayed in the submission form is working as designed.  As per our guidelines, we do inform contributors that they will need to provide additional information, specifically:

"We will then show other categories of information we require in order to validate the title. Please provide as much information as possible since the more data you supply, the easier and faster we can verify and add this title. If you require any help on any of the sections look for a blue '?' to the right and click this for specific help on that section."
