One of my credits is showing up as "self," instead of "actor." On the tv shows page, it shows up as an acting credit, but on my own page it is showing up under self. How can I get it to show up as a acting credit.

I assume this is because the show is under the documentary genre, so people appearing in it are listed as appearing as themselves. You'll need to edit the show's credit and set the attribute (and any other actors playing a role, so they don't find themselves in your position) to "reenactment".

Thank you for your reply. In the attribute box there is no choice for "reenactment." Also, this is about the 10th reenactment I have done as an actor and I have never had to put reenactment in the attribute box and received an actor credit for the show without it defaulting to "self." So I still am perplex on why it is happening for this show but did not happen for the other shows. Thanks.

I had a quick look through your credits and that is the only one that is flagged as being a documentary, which is why it is showing as "self":

Hmmm, you're right. I've never had to do this myself.

I went back to the guidelines and it seems it needs this in the keyword section (sorry about misleading you there). So I've added it to the whole series and that should sort the credit issue out once the submission goes through. It is worth checking when this goes live, as I'm unsure if it needs to be applied to each episode individually.

I waited some time to see if there would be any changes. However, the credit remains the same: as playing myself. It is fine on the series episode page; but show up on my page as playing myself. I looked at the attribute box on the episode page but there was no choice for reenactment. Thank you for having looked into this.

keywords were last updated on10th Feb so the admins are kinda behind on this. I'm sure it would appear by month end.

I just checked and my submission has yet to be approved (there is a backlog on data processing - it can take a month or more in some categories), but just to cover all our bases I added the keyword to the episode too. It is pretty straightforward, so there shouldn't be a problem with it. However, it might take a while to go through, unless the staff here can look into it and jolly it along.

I'm afraid that, when it comes to data submission on IMDB, the one things you need above anything else is patience.

Hello, I have the exact same issue as above--both show and my episode are listed as "documentary" and my credit is listed under "Self" instead of "Actress" on my personal page. This is not the case--it also was a reenactment. Would you please be able to assist?

Thank you in advance!

As discussed above, when it's a documentary and "reenactment" has not been added to the show and episode in the keywords, and no character name listed, it will get listed as self. So, if you edit the episode to add a keyword of "reenactment" and edit the role to include a character name, it should work out. Please note that there was a backlog then, though I am not sure it's still taking as long.

Although if the series is all like that, then you can add it to the top level of the show, so everyone gets correctly credited.

Thank you for your comments. I have added "reenactment" as a keyword to show and episode and my name/character appear as correct. However, on my own page it is still listed under Self.

Same situation as the question that starts this thread. If anyone has further suggestions...thanks!

I'd guess this has just been accepted, if so all the relevant pages need to be rebuilt. I'd guess you'd need to wait a few days for this to all go through.
