A feature like "Credited With", but for series/movie connections

I like the "Credited With" feature for finding actors' common connections, including the advanced features (not officially supported, but documented here on IMDb's GetSatisfaction) for including multiple names / specific roles.

I was thinking, though, that it would be really great to have a similar feature, but based around titles. I'm thinking this would be especially interesting for TV Series connections, but there's no reason it couldn't be used for movies (or movie-TV combinations) as well.

Basically, if the user is at a Title page for a TV series or movie, chooses the "Connections" feature (perhaps with a better name that I can't think of), and then provides a second Title to search for connections on, the system would return a list of all of the actors (or, I suppose, all of the credited Names in any role) who've appeared in both Titles, along with a list of which episodes (if applicable) they appeared in.

Obviously this could be an intensive search, especially for long-running series, and the list could grow quite large if there are people who worked regularly on both. Perhaps some limiting would have to be performed to keep the list manageable. But it would still be a great way to explore the (frequent) connections between series like Supernatural and Stargate SG-1, find out what connections Roseanne has to Modern Family, or see which episodes of The Late Show featured actors who were in Top Gun.

Ferd: Most of this feature already exists. It's at http://www.imdb.com/search/common under "Common Cast/Crew Between Two Titles".

However, it will only return the individual names in common between the titles -- not what episodes of each series those people worked on.

Huh, you're right — I'd missed that! (There's no way to reach it starting from a Title page, like there is with the "Credited With" link on Name pages, is there? That'd be handy, and make it more discoverable. It's where I looked before proposing this, in fact.)

But, I agree, that's pretty much the idea I was proposing. I still think the output format could be improved, when dealing with TV series, to show where in each series the person appears. (Especially, for those who are regular cast members on one series but not the other, which episode(s) of the non-regular series they pop up in.)
