Will the DM6 module work without the triggers being connected?

I would like to use my DM6 as a rudimentary drum machine, and would like to not have to set up the entire kit to use it.

Hello, Baba

Thanks for posting!

You can use the DM6 for its sounds but you would need a trigger to plug into the cable snake. Can you be more specific on the setup that you are looking to configure?

Hope this helps!

Hi Criss,

I was hoping to use just the module, with it's pattern presets, as a drum machine, without having to bring the entire kit (small venues). But, if I need to provide (a) trigger(s), as you said, that kind of answers my question.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

The DM6 has a built in sequencer......40 patterns ....if you are planning just to play patterns only you shouldn't have any problem.
You can also connect the output of an external audio source, such as a CD player, to the stereo 1/8" input.(Aux or Mix in)
You also have the option by pressing DRUM OFF to mute the drum sounds of the accompanying Pattern.
Give it a try...unplug the harness from back of the module, select a pattern and hit play.
You'll still be able to edit the pattern. You just won't be able to trigger any of the 108 voices.

Hi Chaser,

Thanks for responding. It sounds like a "Let's operate, and find out" situation. OK, I'll give it a try. My underlying concern, which I've discovered, to my chagrin, I hadn't mentioned, is doing inadvertent damage to the module trying to use it without the triggers connected. I'll comment here on my success or failure, so every one will know for sure.

I have never had any problems playing back patterns/songs without any triggers connected to any of my modules including..STRIKE,Command,Crimson,Crimson II and DM10 MKII Studio. The Command,Crimson,Crimson II and the DM10 MKII Studio don't have patterns and editing.Just songs you can change tempo/volume.
Without triggers they are just glorified mp3 players, you can however load/playback your own using a USB flash drive/stick.

All except the STRIKE module have DB25 harnesses.

The DM6 may be the same way ..except they call them patterns.
I had a DM6 when they first came out....years and years ago.
