I ́ve seen that this issue was already asked and fixed, but no answers can be found in the topics themselves.

I have the Vi61 and it ́s Editor.

I just cant change the knobs preset to use them from the CC 1.
Keeps telling me that Midi communication is unsuccessful when I try to send my preset into the Controller.

Editor version is 1.0.2.1
Vi61 Firmware is 1.0.0.6

Thanks in advance.

Hello Gus,

Thanks for the post. So you're on a Mac then? What if you try Preset Slot 2 or 3. Do you get the same message? Make sure the VI61 is the only USB device connected to your computer via USB. Please confirm with your computer specs listed.

Hi again, Ive tried and same message appears. Yes I'm on a Mac with those specs. At the editor options the input and output are already set to the VI61. Still no luck.

Years later, but same exact issue. Mac connected ONLY to the VI61 and no other audio apps running. Everything else in the editor works except for 'Send Preset to Hardware'. Mac on High Sierra and the latest versions of all Alesis software and firmware.

Does anybody know the solution to this? Several threads simply say "It's fixed!" and give no other instructions. What is this dark secret to make things work?!?

lifeofbrian, I did. It had to do with selecting the proper input/output in the settings. The default was NOT the one that worked. My rig is not all connected right now, so I can't confirm which is correct, but try the other inputs/outputs and hopefully you'll find it. And if not, ping me back and I'll get things wired back up a bit later and get that exact setting for you.

lifeofbrian... I went back and found a post of mine from over a year ago that had the details. Here's what I wrote: Solution (as of 1/4/19 on a MacBook Pro with High Sierra 10.13.6)... In the menu, select Options / Device Setup. Then select the Editor In and Editor Out, and Apply. Sending the preset to the hardware should then work with no "MIDI Error" dialog.

Hope that gets you going!
