VI25 MIDI Error

Hi there,
Every time I try to "send preset to hardware" on my new VI25, I receive a message saying "MIDI Comunication Unsuccessful. Verify MIDI Connectin and Device Settings. Verify no other applicatoins are using the MIDI port". I get this message even though the VI25 is the only device connected to my laptop, and the firmware is up to date.

Side note: I reported this problem about a month ago and was assured a response within a few business days, but still haven't heard back.

Hi Braden,

Thanks for posting.

The message that you're receiving will usually appear if there are other programs open that utilize the same MIDI connection from your controller, such as DAWs. To be safe, I would recommend having all other programs closed when working with the Editor.

Are you using Windows or Mac?

I'm using Windows and the only program open is the Editor. I've even tried doing it as soon as I've turned the computer on to insure there's nothing in the background but the same error message shows up.

Can you provide me with a screenshot of how you have your options configured within the Editor?

Just realized the Input and Output hadn't been selected within the options menu. All is working now! Thanks for the help.

For some reason the problem has returned but the message no longer shows up. When i try to use the controller it uses the standard presets, instead of what i saved. What input and output should be selected and is there something else that i might be doing that's preventing the keyboard from saving my settings?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Editor? If you have and the issue is still happening, please get in touch with your nearest Support Office for one-on-one assistance. You can find their contact information on that page.

Solution (as of 1/4/19 on a MacBook Pro with High Sierra 10.13.6)... In the menu, select Options / Device Setup. Then select the Editor In and Editor Out, and Apply. Sending the preset to the hardware should then work with no "MIDI Error" dialog.
