Hi Samantha,

Thanks for posting. Please keep in mind the Nitro Kit won't generate sound on its own when connected to your computer.

Which DAW are you using with your Nitro Kit? If you want to trigger the Nitro Kit's built-in sounds, make sure you're in Local Mode. If you want to trigger sounds from a drum plugin, set the module to General MIDI Mode. keep in mind that, if you're triggering sounds from a plugin, you'll need to record-enable your tracks. Depending on what DAW you're using, there will usually be a 'record' icon or a red 'R' that will need to be enabled.

See below for more information on how to enable these modes and adjust your MIDI settings:

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

Another alternative is to use the headphones out the Nitro, to an input jack on the Mac. Newer Macs may only have outputs on the headphone, so you can buy a cheap USB adapter that allows recording.
Of course you will need something like Reaper or Garage band to record the sound.
Might not be as good quality to direct connect or physical DAW's but it works fine and you will get all of your Nitro sounds without midi, USB or other connections.

Did you double-check that your track or tracks are record-enabled within Garage Band? The 'Record' button should be blinking if it is.

I use the Superior Drummer 2.0 plug in for Garageband and the Nitro Kit performs excellently with no need for any special set-up

Hey there,

Does the Nitro transmit velocity information via MIDI or only "on/off" like the DM6?

Many thanks!

The Nitro Kit will only send MIDI ON/OFF data.
