Toggle Functionality Error

I've used my VI49 with Ableton for over a year now. In the last month or so the functionality of the switches has changed without using the editor. They were set to CC toggle (simple on/off). The first error that occured was that the toggle function stopped turning the channel "off." The switch would engage the channel but it would no longer actually toggle. This happened without benefit of using the Alesis editor. After much research and experimentation I was able to use the editor to get the toggle function to work but only as a "double-tap." That is, one must now press the switch twice to toggle "on" and twice again to toggle "off." This would be merely annoying if the switches light toggled at the same rate but no, it still changes with each press making it useless as an indicator of whether the track is engaged. I can find no one else having this problem on the web. Anyone have any Ideas? Thanks.

Another weird thing that occurred simultaneously was that the octave setting did not change in the editor but the light indicating "down" octave was engaged on the controller when it was turned on.

Hello, Last Visible Dog

Thanks for posting!

Sorry to hear that, after doing some testing it sounds like your keyboard may not be sending the "off" CC message the controller needs to turn the light off on the switch. If you have this MIDI mapped in your software, it will still work since its detecting the CC message to toggle but the switch is not receiving the message for the light to correspond.

It sounds like your product may need to be serviced. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum, but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

• Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Alesis Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop-down menu.

or

• For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

The light is not the problem.

The issue is that the "CC Toggle" function, which is supposed to be a simple binary "off/on," does not function the way in which it was intended. The light on the unit simply reacts as though the toggle function is behaving properly.

Is there a way for me to reset the controller's internal memory without having to visit a "Support Office?"

The link embedded in your response just takes me to the same generic rerouting page which says nothing at all about a "support office," rendering the link less than helpful.

Thank you for your time.

Hello, Last Visible Dog

There is no "Support Office" to visit, this is a call center you can contact for help over the phone. There is not a reset for the internal map of the keyboard, the only way to bring it factory settings is to import the preset the opens up in the editor when you launch the program. I would try doing that and remapping your parameters. If it continues to not work on the keyboard end, it might have to be serviced. Luckily this is a repairable keyboard! But I would try sending the original preset to the keyboard first.

Please contact our support team with links provided about for warranty claims.

Hope this helps!
