I know how to copy a pattern to another pattern, but I am not sure how to copy pattern 1A (for example) to pattern 1B. I feel like I don't get the option. Could you advise?

Hello,

Thanks for posting.

Follow these instructions below to copy your patterns:

1) The SR+18 should be in Pattern mode and stopped.
2) First, select a pattern.
3) If you wish to copy a pattern from subpattern A to subpattern B, select A by pressing the A button.
4) Press and hold the Save/Copy button and keep holding it down until step 6.
5) While holding the Save/Copy button, press Page Up. The display will read COPY TO PATT.
6) Enter the destination pattern number into which the current sub-pattern will be copied with the INC/DEC buttons, number buttons or the VALUE dial.
7) Now select which sub-pattern you would like to copy the data into by pressing B.
8) Press REC (Enter). The display will read COPY DONE.
9) Release the Save/Copy and Rec (Enter) buttons.

Sorry, this does not work. The A/B switches do not work with the Copy Pattern. I am afraid to overwrite the Sub-Pattern A with B, since there is no visible cue. When I get to Step 7, the pressing of B does not offer any visual cue, but the manual shows that B is selected. It does not happen on my SR18, but only the Pattern Name shows, not the A nor B sub-pattern.

When I suspected the Pattern Length to be the issue, I also realized that the Pattern Length option in Record Setup is not independent. I cannot have a different Pattern Length for Pattern 1, Sub Pattern A and Pattern 1, Sub Pattern B. If I try to save a change, the SR18 also changes the Pattern Length from that of Pattern 1, Sub Pattern A to that of Pattern 1, Sub Pattern B. In other words, the Pattern Length option in Record Setup is not independent. Am I missing something?
