Hi all,I just bought an alesis sample pad pro and decided to connect a kick pedal to it. I read on this forum, I bought a a momentary, non-latching footswitch (such as a sustain pedal and adjust the input to SWITCH. The pedal I am using is a roland DP-2. It indeed works, but the problem is that it will trigger the kick only when I remove my foot from the kick pedal. So basically, when I hit the kick pedal it doesn t trigger anything, however when I release my foot from the pedal it triggers the sound, so basically, there is no way to play in rhythm right now.I am wondering if I am doing something wrong and if I need to change some settings on the machine, as I exactly bought a momentary, non-latching footswitch for this purpose. Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for posting.

Sometimes this can happen if you connect the pedal to your SamplePad Pro after powering on. Try connecting the pedal to the unit before you turn it on.

Can you confirm that you have the pedal set to trigger when depressed as opposed to the other way around? Does the same symptom occur if you use the pedal with a MIDI keyboard? Have you tried using another pedal?

Hi,

I tried to connect the pedal to the unit before to turn it on and I still have the same problem. Indeed, the pedal trigger when I drepress it as ossposed to the other way around. I do not have a MIDI keyboard to try it and do not have another pedal, as I bought this pedal for this purpose. Again, this is a DP2 from roland. I understood it was to work. Is there anything else I can test?

You may want to try restarting the Sample Pad Pro with the pedal connected. Sometimes, this can cause the connection to "reset". If you're still having issues, please get in touch with your nearest Support Office. You can find their contact information on that page.

It's inverted...the Roland DP-2 doesn't have a polarity switch.
Not all companies manufactured momentary non-latching pedals the same and forced you to purchase their's for Their gear.
You could try switching the Samplepad Pro on while holding the pedal down and see if it will switch polarity.....If it doesn't
You can either modify it by switching wires around or return it and get something like the M-Audio SP1 ...about $20 on Amazon
It has a polarity switch so you'll never have this problem again.

There is also the MIDI Plus-2 for around $10 with switchable polarity and adjustable pedal stroke.I am not familiar with it but it does have high ratings.
It is plastic though.

If you are looking for a metal one search for Nektar NP-1.
It is around $15...also has a polarity switch

Sustain Pedal problems.
