Sample Pad Pro Midi In and Out

I want to extend the triggers for my Sample Pad Pro by using a Trigger IO, connecting the Trigger IO Midi Out to the MIDI In on the Sample Pad Pro. Problem is, the MIDI data doesn't pass through the Sample Pad Pro MIDI Out. How can I get the data from the IO to pass through the Sample Pad Pro MIDI Out?

Sample Pad Pro MIDI Receive is set to "ALL" and the Send Channel on both the Trigger IO and the Sample Pad is set to "10". Just to be sure, I used the same cable on a keyboard and ensured the cable is working. I also took the MIDI cable from the Sample Pad Pro Out and used it on the Trigger IO Midi Out by itself and ensured the device is actually transmitting data.

Can the Sample Pad Pro allow data to pass thru from In to Out?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your post!

Naturally, the MIDI OUT of the Samplepad Pro should work just fine right away, especially with the MIDI Channels between the Samplepad Pro and Trigger IO matching.

In this case, it may be best to reach out directly to our Tech Support to make sure nothing is being overlooked or if a warranty service is needed. To contact them, their information can be found on www.alesis.com/support for either phone or email contact.

I hope this helps!

After further testing, I learned that MIDI data does not flow from the Input directly to the MIDI Output. I confirmed this with 4 other devices in my studio. In order to get MIDI to pass, one of the devices must have a MIDI THRU. Neither the Sample Pad Pro or the Trigger iO have a THRU port.
