How many of you purchased the Pro-X High Hat and could not stand it? That thing drove me nuts! I finally decided it needs a re-assembly of sorts. After much trial and error I found "MY" solution! 1.) Dump the Spring! 2.) Add a Cymbal Pad under Bottom cymbal. and 3.) Add a cymbal Pad on top or Top Cymbal. Now; the darn thing works fine! Any takers on this please say so!

The spring triggers open/closed so what triggers the position sensor now? The only thing left is a trigger in the bottom cymbal, so what exactly is working fine? It sounds like you broke it, so what gives? Please, more details. Thx!

There are no more details to give you - other than to say "Try it yourself." If it is "broke" Then; it works better broke then it ever did with that stupid spring!

I found an even better fix. My above fix works somewhat, "if" you like a really "swish" kind of sound! However; putting the spring back, then; increasing the spring length - using felt cymbal (or other) washers (1 or 2? ) is a superior method, that allows for much easier calibration, and; even all around real hi-hat sounds! I am still playing with the distance / position from the top of the washer for best sounds! However; this is (I think) is the way to go! I have not yet decided on 1 or 2 washers either! Oh yeah: Remove the bottom washer under the bottom cymbal too! Still tweaking but it's getting there. I think I may have to go into the Module settings as well to perfect this thing! Alesis you had an excellent idea with this Hi-Hat, however; you put it to production and market too soon! You really should have done more R & D on it - not leave it for the customer to do the R & D for you!

You could check with support and ask for the STRIKE upgraded spring..the STRIKE Hi hat (Dual Zone) uses the same Pro-X (Single Zone) bottom.
I haven't had time to find a used (or buy) the Pro-X and test it considering one of the biggest complaints is the top is too loud (acoustically) like banging on a trash can lid
and the STRIKE Hi hat can be picked up cheaper in some places.

Here is a side by side comparison of the springs.
Spring on the right is the updated version.

They are sending me a Spring!
We shall see what the future holds!
Should I remove the plastic Cap on
the original and place it on the NEW?

I received the new Spring about 1/2 hour ago! I did easily remove the Plastic Cap from the Old Spring and place it on the New Spring! New Spring installed, YES! The Pro-X Hi-Hat response is much, much better than before! It no longer takes a Lead Foot to operate either! The Old Spring can stop a Locomotive! This New Spring is A Keeper! Alesis gets KUDOS for this change / improvement - the difference is not a minor one - it is "Major." Now I need to tweak my Distance Between Cymbals, and; Tweak The Hi-Hat in the The Module for best results. However; I must first do FIRMWARE UPGRADES!

I have now successfully upgraded all the ROM's! And; I have successful Capped and Installed the New Spring! Ergo; in theory, the only things left to do are tweaks:
1.) To keep the felt cymbal washer on top of the Pro-X Hi Hat, or; to not keep that felt cymbal washer?
2.) Distance between the top and bottom cymbal?
3.) Any needed Hi-Hat Tweaks to the Module?

In short: I am now right back where I started from! LOL. Now, I need to reinstall the DM10 Module, and; all the cables - so I can now do 1-3 above! LOL.

Round and Round - Up and Down - Round and Round and Up and a Down - and a 1 2 3 Kick, a 1, 2 3.

Excrement of the Bovine!

Glad to hear it works , since the STRIKE and the Pro-X use the same bottom/controller , other than single/dual zone it should have.
I would assemble the Hi Hat as it came from the factory with everything and dial it in.
The gap.. I set on the STRIKE to where it's just resting on the spring where the resistance is close to that of the RealHat pedal. Since it's FSR once there is no pressure on the spring it goes infinite but you could go wider ,depends on how much range of motion you want for your foot.
I have no idea why they don't put the spring in the Alesis Online Store.
