This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Any chance to get an updated io14/26 firewire driver for OS X El Capitan?.

io|14 isn't working any more after updating to OS X 10.11.
Would be really sad if the since then perfectly working device was useless now?

Though the device isn't listed at all on your El Capitan support page, can we expect an updated driver?

Thanks,
Oliver

Listen...if System Integrity Protection is disabled in El Capitan (and that is easily do-able), the current i/o14-i/o26 driver works just great. All you folks at Alesis have to do is make it a signed driver/kext for El Capitan...release it as a beta if you must, but just do it! These devices are still perfectly legitimate tools. As for the advice to not upgrade...sorry, worn thin, and useless to people buying new Macs with El Capitan pre-installed. I repeat..THE CURRENT DRIVER WORKS PERFECTLY!!! Just get it signed, and help us i/o26 and i/014 owners get back to work!

I too am having this issue as I write this...I am running 10.10.5 on a mac with only TB and USB inputs. I am a long time io14 user and find that it has more than met my needs--being that I use the dedicated insert jacks with external preamps.
upon updating to Logic X on the new mac I figured I would buy an adapter 400/800/tb.and "upgrade" to an i/o26..especially since I would like to run the direct outs of my studiomaster 8 channel mixer...I was circling a perfectly good io26 on ebay ..started to do some last minute research and all I read was that it wouldn't work regardless of it being a 14 or 26 ....this is the very first time I've seen this explanation/solution TY BrownBag! is this still true:)? I was on the phone with Alesis aka InMusic today and they told me verbatim "the i/0 14 and 26 will NOT work with your current OS and Mac(!?!)..being stubborn I am going to buy the adapter and see/hear for myself....surefire way to get me to try is to tell me it won't work...anyone else in this same position? btw my criteria for an interface if I HAVE to buy one would be:
compatible with os 10.10.5 at least
TB or usb 2.0
4+ input channels who's preamps can be bypassed when using an external preamp etc.
FWIIW inMusic didn't give me the same vibe like when I used to call Alesis..maybe my imagination or has the acquisition changed this dependable (at least for me) audio outfit?
anyone out there trying BrownBagMusic's solution?
thanks

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Multimix 16 USB 2.0 latency problems with Yosemite 10.10.5.

Saw a similar problem on the boards from about four months ago. I have downloaded the most-recent drivers for my Multimix 16 USB 2.0 but am still experiencing latency problems with Yosemite 10.10.5 and any audio output (Logic Pro X, youtube, etc) into the mixer. Very similar symptoms to Andy Morley's below, sometimes audio is in sync for about 10 seconds, then frizzes out and lag re-occurs:

...Andy Morley 4 months ago
MultiMix 16 USB 2.0 latency issues Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.3

I've been using my MultiMix 16 USB 2.0 with various Windows OS's for a few years now with no problems. I have just moved over to Apple, and after installing the latest driver (v3.2.0) I am having latency problems before I open DAW (Cubase Pro 8). There is a delay between me hitting the play button in iTunes and the music starting, and the same when pressing pause. This is also the case when trying to record or monitor tracks in Cubase, making it impossible to record.
I have tried using both USB3 ports on my Macbook Pro...

Have there been any insights since this was reported?

Thanks for any advice,

Tim

Hello,

Please stay tuned to the following link http://bit.ly/AlesisOSX for future information on driver support. This is all the current information that we have regarding driver support and its ETA.

As always, as this doesn't just go for our hardware but other USB audio devices, if you are doing critical production work or are actively performing with your system, it is strongly recommended that you always refrain from updating to the next operating system update until the manufacturer has provided updates that insure new operating system compatibility.

Your update (and mine) is to sell that piece of junk and never buy another Alesis product as long as you live. Back to Mackie, I guess...at least they don't become useless after a few years. ;)

I don't understand why io|dock, io|2, io|2 express, io|4 are supported by el capitan and NOT io|26 - I bought this high range audio interface and get less support than lower range products ?! seriously ?

Hello,

Thanks for the post. That's because all of those first 4 products are all class compliant. The iO|26 is number one, an older legacy product and number 2, requires additional drivers to work on your computer. The drivers for this product haven't been updated for quite some time now. If it does get supported, check back on the product page or our El Capitan list.

I have the Alesis Mulitmix Firewire 8 mixer and OS X el capitan for Mac. The mixer is not listed in the "Not Yet Supported" list and isn't in the "Supported" list either. When will there be support for this interface with el capitan? This is my primary audio interface and cannot do much without the support.
Thanks

Hello,

Please stay tuned to the following link http://bit.ly/AlesisOSX for future information on driver support. This is all the current information that we have regarding driver support and its ETA. Your mixer is a discontinued legacy product at this point so we mainly concentrate on getting our current line of products drivers supported first.

Please release a new driver for the IO14... It's a shame that this interface isn't supported on El Capitan. If it had works with the same computer on Mavericks, it could definitely works now. You just need to write a f****** piece of code. So please do it :)

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Where can I find El Capitan support for Alesis Firewire mixers?.

Hello,

I am sad to see how Alesis plans on dropping the support for the Multimix 16 firewire. Since the El Capitan update, the console is no longer detected and it seems that Alesis does not plan on doing anything about that.

I am seen other users posting about this topic but their threads are getting locked, preventing any further comment.

Is that how Alesis is handling things?

Thank you for participating on our forum Wilfried.

Sorry for that but we're trying to direct users in the correct route on where to find information on support for your hardware regarding El Capitan. Our Firewire mixers a quite old at this point. I'm not going to say that the updates for these products drivers are obsolete but I will say that I don't have any information on any future updates until they are made public. Posting and voicing your opinion on our forum about this is fine but keep in mind, we won't be posting any future driver updates on it. This is not what this forum is for. Any future driver updates will be posted on the Firewire's product pages. Hardware El Capitan support is going to be posted on the http://alesis.com/el-capitan site.

As for your suggestion that you posted on 11/18/15 may of worked for you for your particular computer setup, for others whom aren't computer savvy, they may attempt this and permanently harm their computer or computer settings. Since this is not an officially approved procedure from Alesis, I'm going to have remove it. Please don't take this personally. Myself and the Alesis team truly admire you and your passion for the product. This is the official Alesis forum. We can't allow non qualified or non approved procedures to be posted on our forum. Thanks.

After reading this forum & waiting :

Is there any chance that we got a compatible driver in a "reasonnable" delay ( which is already to long ....) ?
Can Alesis take a commitment ( a date) to its customers to deliver this driver so we can use the product. Mosts of other company are done with this release.

Thx & Rgds

Hello,

Long term support is incredibly important to our customers's success, as we're committed to developing and releasing products that you can depend on for years to come. We understand how frustrating it is to have a DJ controller frozen in time and not have the ability to update its drivers when new operating systems come out.

Current Numark products incorporate a number of changes that help ensure flexibility and support into the future. For example, the MultiMix USB FX series mixers, Drum Kit Modules and iO series audio interfaces are all class-compliant on Mac and PC and require no driver updates. This is one example of steps we are taking to improve the customer experience and ensure long term support.

Here on the forum, we won't get an answer as to which Legacy products will get an updated driver for new operating systems. The information that is available to the public is what we have available. So, a simple yes or no answer cannot be given accurately here on the forum if a product will be updated or not.

As we previously stated before, for information on which Numark products support El Capitan or Windows 10, please visit the link below:

Hello Everyone,

It’s important to us that your work and creativity aren’t interrupted. Stay tuned to the following article for the latest news about OS X 10.11 El Capitan Support.

Our testing team is hard at work verifying the compatibility of our entire product line. Since newly released operating systems always carry a risk of introducing unforeseen difficulties...

We do not recommend updating to OS X 10.11 El Capitan until your product is listed as compatible HERE in this article.

Long term support is incredibly important to our customer's success, as we're committed to developing and releasing products that you can depend on for years to come. We understand how frustrating it is to have an audio interface or mixer that was developed to work perfectly with existing operating systems when it was developed, later frozen in time when new operating systems come out, while the work of creating new drivers is being done.

Current Alesis products incorporate a number of engineering changes that help ensure flexibility and support into the future. For example, the Core 1, iO Hub, Control Hub and MultiMix USB FX mixers are all class-compliant and require no driver updates. This is one example of steps we are taking to improve the customer experience and ensure long term support.

Older Alesis products that required audio drivers for previous operating systems are products that we still continue to support in the areas of hardware related issues and basic troubleshooting. We will also continue to take the steps necessary to create and engineer new drivers for newer OS releases for these older models. Unfortunately not all of these products are not supported for use on Mac OSX 10.11 El Capitan at the moment. Our recommendation remains the same: hold off installing any optional Mac OS X updates to your computer's OS until we have built, fully tested and announced any driver releases in this article.

Here on the forum, we can’t give a guaranteed answer as to which legacy products will get an updated driver for new operating systems. We are continuing to work on updates that we have engineered in the past 10 years. At some point, the operating systems will create an obsolescence to older hardware beyond our control. A simple yes or no answer cannot be given accurately here on the forum if a product will be updated or not. We are continuing to work toward a yes for all. This and any other driver status information will be posted at the link below. Thank you for your continued patience.

For information on which Alesis products support El Capitan, please visit the links below:

Thanks. I checked that list before posting, and I guess I'm wondering if I don't see my hardware on the "Not yet supported" list, should I assume it won't be supported in the future? Like, do legacy products get left behind, in general, or do you expect to bring them over to El Capitan? Thank you!
