Hi Alvimar,

Thanks for posting. Please follow the steps below to do this:

1) Before powering on either unit, connect a MIDI cable from the MIDI output port of the SR-16 to the MIDI input port of the SR-18. Once this connection is made, power on both units. 2) On the SR-16 press the “MIDI SETUP” key. Where you see “MIDI CH” (page 1) set the channel to 01 (use the up and down arrow keys to navigate through the MIDI channels, these are found next to the #5 and #0 keys).

3) On the SR-18, press the “SYSTEM SETUP” KEY. Where you see “MIDI CH” (page 1) set the channel to 01 (use the up and down arrow keys/”inc” and “dec” to navigate through the MIDI channels. These are found next to the #5, #0 and “roll” keys). Now both the SR-16 and the SR-18 are on the same MIDI channel. MIDI channel 01.

4) On the SR-16, (you should still be on Page 1 “MIDI CH 01”) press the “TEMPO/PAGE^” key two times until you see “Drum Out OFF” (page 3). Next press the Up key (this is found next to the #5 key) one time until “OFF” changes to “ON”.

5) On the SR-18, (you should still be on Page 1 “MIDI CH 01”) press the “^PAGE” key one time until you see “DRUM IN OFF” (page 2). Next press the “^INC” key (this if found directly to the right of the #5 and #0 keys) one time, “OFF” should change to “ON V1”.

6) On the SR-16, (you should still be on Page 3 “DRUM OUT ON”) press the “TEMPO/PAGE^” key three times until you see “CLOCKOUT OFF” (page 6). Next press the Up (^) key (this is found next to the #5 key) one time until “OFF” changes to “ON”.

7) On the SR-18 (you should still be on Page 2 “DRUM IN ON V1”) press the “^PAGE” key three times until you see “CLOCK IN OFF” (page 5). Next press the “^INC” key (this if found directly to the right of the #5 and #0 keys) one time until “OFF” changes to “ON”.

8) Now, on the SR-16, choose the pattern that you would like to record into the SR-18. This can be done by pressing the “PATTERN/SONG” button until the top left of the display reads “PATTERN”. Next press the “PRESET/USER” button until you see “USER” in the upper right of the display. Please use the up and down arrow keys (these are found next to the #5 and #0 keys) to choose the pattern that you want to record in to the SR-18.

9) On the SR-18 please choose an empty pattern. This can be done by pressing the “PATTERN/SONG” button until the upper right of the display reads “PATTERN”. Next press the “PRESET/USER” button until you see “USER” in the upper right of the display. Now use the “VALUE/TEMPO” wheel to scroll to the right until you see “EMPTY PATT”. You now have an empty pattern selected are and are ready to record a pattern from the SR-16.

10)On the SR-18 press the “REC (ENTER)” and the “PLAY (PAUSE)” at the same time. The SR-18 is now ready to record.

11)Press play on the SR-16 until the pattern has looped one time. You should now have the pattern that is playing in the SR-16 recorded in the SR-18.

One thing that you will want to be aware of is your pads’ note values. By default the SR-16 and the SR-18’s pad note value differ on some pads.

To check this (on the SR-16) press the “MIDI SETUP” key then use the “TEMPO/PAGE ^” and “TEMPO/PAGE v” buttons to get to page 4. When you hit a pad you will see the note value on the display. You can use the up and down arrow keys to change the note value.

To check this (on the SR-18) press the “SYSTEM SETUP” key then use the “^ PAGE” AND “v PAGE” buttons to get to page 4. When you hit a pad you will see the note value on the display. You can use the “INC” and “DEC” keys to change the note value.

Simply match up the note values on both units and you will be good to go.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

So I'm guessing we repeat this process four times for every pattern? Pattern a and pattern a fill pattern B and pattern B fill? Thank you.

Can this process be done with "songs" stored on the SR16?... want to move them to SR18 before or after transferring user patterns?

Howdy, Bill, and everybody else.
I tried this for the last 2 days...and am still having a problem.
When the MIDI cable is plugged in to both machines...the drum pattern(s) have a extra drum, or something else going on. Even if I plug the headphones into the SR16 ...while the MIDI is connected...it's in there. The transferred pattern (in the SR18), has the extra noise /drum, hitting on 1/4 notes. When I remove the MIDI cable, the pattern...ON THE SR16 ..is correct, again. BUT... the pattern is never correct on the SR18. Any ideas?

Thanks. But I want to dump ALL my patterns onto the SR18 at once - not one at a time. There are many. Can I do that?

Your files will need to be imported individually, as there is currently no way to import them in bulk.
