Hi,
My son has just got the Alesis DM10 Studio Mesh kit. He wants to be able to record himself to video playing along with tracks to then post on his website. He is 12 and autistic, he's hoping that if people see him over coming his issues with the use of his music they might donate to the Autistic Society in the UK.
The problem is we do not have a clue where to start. We have a great kit that was donated to him, a mac laptop but thats about it. Any advice on how to get decent results with as little cost as possible would be appreciated. We also have digital cameras and iphones.
Thanks for your help
Tony

Hello,

Thanks for posting Tony! I can certainly help point you in the right direction. The easiest way is to simply just record your son on the drums with your digital camera w/audio from the camera. Then transfer that onto your computer.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled How do I record my drums and mix the tracks to make drum cover videos?.

I have an Alesis DM7X model.

Are there any tutorials on how to:
Record the drums and the song I want to cover at the same time so I don't have to mix them in the computer because I have problems with the track of the drums and the track of the song lining up with the video in editing software.

Hear the song I want to play and the drums at the same time.

If the module has a record feature how do I export that recording to the computer?

What is the purpose of the USB port on the Alesis DM7x?

Thanks.
