Firmware Update 1.1 Strike Multipad - Update File Error?

I've just got a Strike Multipad and am looking forward to updating it to 1.1... but I'm getting File Update Error on the update process.

I formatted the USB drive as FAT32, and copied the DAT file across: The Strike sees the USB drive, and tries to read the DAT but it fails with the error.

I tried it with both OSX and Win10 laptops - even reformatted the drive each time. I have not had a problem with this USB drive in the past. Any ideas?

I'm having the same exact problem, I've tried 4 different USB thumb drives, formatted on my iMac, didn't work, then re-formatted them on a PC...still didn't work!

I tried to import samples I have from "That Sound" https://www.iwantthatsound.com and all can be played on my iMac but when I try to import them into the Strike Multipad it doesn't even see the USB Thumb Drive! Very Disappointing considering my Strike Multipad is less than 2 weeks old.

I'm guessing we aren't the only ones with this issue?

This is weird. I just downloaded it again, put it on a fresh USB drive, and the Multipad saw it and updated. What.

Robbie - I hope yours gets updated too. Maybe they put a new file out there last night? Or maybe it was just the phase of the moon.

Hello, Everyone

Thanks for posting!

Keep in mind the Strike Multipad will not read USB Mass Storage devices bigger than 32GB. Make sure you don't have anything else on your USB drive and that the firmware file is in the root directory and not in a folder. You do not need a PC to update the firmware on this product.

In regards to importing samples from "That Sound," If the samples are 24-bit the Strike Multipad will not read them until after you successfully update the Firmware, that is one of the new feature updates with 1.1.

If you have not updated your SMP yet, these are the Sample Requirements.

" All WAV files must be 44.1 kHz / 16-bit andlocated in the root directory of the drive (not in any folderor sub-folder)."

Hope this helps!

I'm having the same problem as well. All 4 different USB thumb drives all under 32gb and formatted to MS-DOS (FAT32) on a Mac running MacOS 10.14.5.
Followed all instructions, tried different USB connectors, restarting, reformatting, running disk first-aid on all the USB drives. Yes, the file is the only one on the drives and at the root level. Only had this Multipad for a couple weeks and it has never left my house... on its own, or with my help.

To whomever might be having this same issue.

Most of us have at least a few older USB thumb drives sitting around.
I tried all of mine. One that was a USB 2.0 4gb drive and another that was likely a USB 1.0 drive 2gb, and another that was older than that and smaller in storage. I also tried a USB 3.0 64 GB drive before I saw, on this forum, that they required a 32gb drive or less.

I ran out and picked up a new (as of July 2019) $5 "PNY" brand 16gb USB 3.0 drive. (comes already formatted to MS-Dos Fat32) and it worked perfectly.

Hope that helps!

Hi there, I have tried all of the suggestions lying around and unfortunately have not been able to get this to work. Any more insight? Can a representative contact me with additional instructions?

Hello, Leo

Are you sure you are using a USB 3.0 drive with 32GB or less mass storage?

Let me know!

Thanks for the reply. Ah - I wasn’t aware it had to be USB 3.0. Let me try that and get back to you. Thanks.

Hello, Cozylamp

That may have to do with internet restrictions because of your location. This download is live for all users. I would recommend a different WIFI connection.

Hope this helps!
