DM10 reset to factory settings and now I have lost all default kits

I have had the kit without issue for about 18 months. At the start it a case of plug and play. I have really enjoyed using the kit.

Yesterday, I decided to reset the DM10 to factory settings. Big mistake! Since then all the kits do not work properly. For example Floor tom 1 works, Floor tom 2 does not, I strike the mounted tom and get a tom sound and the second strike I get the cow bell, the hi-hat pedal has ceased working completely. It is as if the module has had a melt down.

The default music tracks and accompanying drums are unaffected.

I have followed previous advice on here about resetting the module to factory settings. None of this works.

Any advice?

Thanks

Hello,

Let’s try a 1 minute test to help get the drum kit on the right track for you.
1. System Reinitialization:
• Power on while holding down EXIT and STORE.
After the reset, you will find yourself playing on Kit 000. If before, you were seeking an articulation or sound presence on the Toms that you did not hear, your striking style may require a different Velocity Curve. The default setting for Velocity Curve on all Toms is LOG2. Test setting this to LOG3 or LOG4 for which Toms you desire new results from, and test a few different Preset Kits, which will give a perspective of the preset sound's varying envelopes. You will find that your articulations will sound more or less present depending on which Velocity Curve is chosen.

**If the the basic reset doesn't work for you, try a Full Reset with the directions listed below.

1. Press UTILITY to enter the main Utility Menu.
2. Press SYS (F4) to access the Accompaniment settings.
3. Press INIT (F2) to access the reinitialization page.
4. Use CURSOR UP / DOWN to move through the menu items:
All Kits: All of the module's Kits and their settings will return to their factory defaults.
All Sequences: All of the module's Sequences and their settings will return to their factory defaults.
All Trigger Settings: All of the module's trigger settings will return to their factory defaults.
5. Press EXEC (F4).
6. A window will appear asking you to confirm your choice. To confirm and reinitialize the selected settings, press YES (F1). To cancel, press CANCEL (F2 or F3).

Chris,

Thank you but I have already tried the solutions you suggest which are found within this web site. I have already fully reinitialized. This has caused the problem. Doing it again makes no difference.

How do I return the module to be fixed?

Thank you

I sought advice by from Alesis which was essentially to 'factory reset'!!! Eventually, after getting the impression they were not listening to me I returned the module for them to look at. They replaced the main circuit board, charged me because it was out of warranty, and returned it with exactly the same issue. I returned it again and eventually it came back working with them claiming I had made some adjustment by mistake. My only mistake was to do a factory reset.

I have thought about going to the small claims court but have decided it is easier just not to buy Alesis again.

Glyn,
Thanks for your reply. I was hoping for much better news. Mine is under warranty. I will call them and give them one opportunity to make things right.
Wish I had read this before....

After you perform the factory reset, are you selecting the correct kit. The original DM10 had the DM10X and DM10 Studio kits.

There is new firmware available on the Alesis.com web site for the DM10. It makes selecting the correct kit after a reset much easier by prompting you to select the correct kit after the reset.
