just noticed, that it also depends on technique. The hi hat kick sound , is louder when your foot is pushing on the whole moving part of the pedal, rather than just resting on its heel and pushing with just the tip.
Snare drum also sounds a bit better when your strokes are accurate on its center and by holding more loosely the sticks so that there's just a slight bouncing feel when you hit the surface
I readjusted the heights and positions of the pads, in order to make the kit's structure more like a real drum kit (snare between my knees and relatevily low, so that my hands are just a bit higher when i play. This way it's easier to hit the center of the pad with the tip of the drumstick. Maybe previously it was more like trying a rimshot )
