I know, I know... Officially, the Pro X Hi-hat is not supposed to work with any module other than the DM10 and DM8. However, I was curious if anyone is successfully using it with the DM7X or Surge module. I have read about others using it with the Nitro module (which should be the same), but I wanted to see if anyone is using successfully with either one of those modules. Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks for posting.

Yes, officially, the Pro X Hi-Hat is only supported with the DM8 and original DM10 kits. I haven't heard of any reports of the Pro X Hi-Hat working with the DM7 kit, but I'm sure someone will chime in if they were able to get this to work properly.

Thanks for the reply, Bill. I'm hoping that since the Nitro module, also a variation of the DM7X, works with the Pro X, that my module will work without issue.

What's strange is I don't have ride choke with my DM7X using the appropriate cable, but if I use the Surge module, it works without issue (also using the DM7X cable snake).

I'm happy to report the Pro X seems to be completely compatible with the Surge Module. It took a little tweaking of the hi-hat settings, but the setup was plug and play.

Can you describe how the Pro-X is connected to the module? I know there are 2 inputs on the hi-hat itself. Curious about how it is wired. Thanks!

The blue hi-hat pedal cable plugs into the bottom controller of the ProX and the white hi-hat pedal plugs into the cymbal. You just use the cables coming off the snake and there's no need to use any extra cables.

Did it need tweaking to work at all, or just to get the sound satisfactory? Do you mind sharing your tweaks?
