MPC Plugin I/O settings for Ableton

I'm lost with this...

I am trying to achieve a scenario where I can 'route' audio from my MPC X / MPC Plugin into audio tracks in Ableton. The X is in Controller-mode, the MPC plugin 'pads' are actively lighting up when I hit the MPC X pads.. so I know that connection is all working and I can hear the sounds loaded into the pads... what I'm really confused about is the concept of the 32 channels that are available in the plugin. Like, what are they ?! .. are they internal MPC plugin channels?! ...or are they my 2 Focusrite Clarett (audio interface) channels it's 'locked n' loaded' ?!

The MPC Software manual says nothing about any of this... AND further to the confusion, what should the Preferences, in the MPC plugin, have set as their Audio Inputs & Audio Outputs?! ..I was getting feedback out my speakers before.. and then if I choose any one of the 8 MPC Audio Tracks in Ableton and try to set it receive from the corresponding MPC plugin channel.. it is not available.. so none of this is making any sense at all.

Do I need to create an Aggregate device in my macOS, so that the MPC available channels and my converter/audio interface are combined?!

PS. I did get some audio out of the X/MPC plugin at one stage when I used outputs 1&2 .. but it was crunching.. glitchy and just awful.. so that may be a another topic..

Thanks for any help in advance!

** UPDATE **

The VST version of the MPC plugin, I was using has audio I/O settings, I have sinced changed to the AU version and it doesn't have Audio I/O settings.

Additionally, the crackling noise has since gone as I increased the Sample buffer size.

But I am still wondering how the 32 (16 stereo pairs) in the MPC plugin can be routed to Ableton tracks. In Ableton, I am using my audio interface (Focusrite Clarett 8PRE) as the Audio I/O, in preferences. And when I configure an Audio channel to 'route' an MPC plugin channel into an Ableton audio channel.. I can see there are 8 different options available that I can use... so I've attached a screen shot of what I'm up to so far, audio is currently only coming from the MPC plugin on channels 1 & 2.

Ok, I solved this.

The MPC plugin channels, 1-32, will appear under the 'Audio from' drop-down list, once you've selected the MPC plugins MIDI instance per each Ableton audio channel you wish to route audio to.

Man, what a hair puller...
