Connect MPC Live to audio interface or directly to monitors?

Hey,

Can I connect my MPC Live directly to my focal alpha 50 with jack (MPC main out) to cinch cable (monitors in)?
I'm asking that only because I use this monitors for my interface which is connect to them with XLR cables. So the problem is that I'm going to plug two separates sound sources to one pair of studio monitors. One (audio interface) is connected through XLR and a second (MPC Live) through cinch.
Is that ok? Is it healthy for my monitors? Or it can cause some damages to monitors?

P.S.
Audio interface which I use is Apollo Twin so I don't have to much inputs.

I run my out from my interface into my input on my Live and the monitor out from the Live to the monitors. When I want to here something from my DAW or computer I just turn the monitor on in the sampler and I can sample from the computer or here the DAW.

Hey KAY,

Thanks for posting!

The Live's outputs are balanced line-level so they can be connected directly to your monitors via XLR to 1/4" TRS cables. I wouldn't recommend connecting your interface to one speaker and the Live to the other. This would effectively give you two different mono mixes that are playing at the same time.

You'll want to connect one stereo output (L/R) from either the interface or Live to the monitors. Whether you route the Live's outputs to the Apollo or follow GW1's setup you should have a clean signal flow with tighter stereo imaging.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your help, GW1!

Hey Eliza,

Thanks for your reply!

I don't think that you understand me correctly.

I want to plug apollo with xlr to trs cable to both monitors and my Live with trs to cinch cable to both monitors at the same time. Both stereo imaging.

So my monitors will work with xlr and cinch input same time.

GW1 What you sayin' it's ok but I don't want to run MPC every time I want to work with DAW.

Best regards
KAY

Hey KAY,

I see, thanks for clarifying! I wouldn't recommend connecting two line-level devices in parallel to your monitors. This can diminish the audio quality and even damage your speakers.

Since you're using the Apollo as the main interface with your DAW, I would suggest connecting the Live's outputs to the Apollo's inputs. Set the Apollo's monitor source to Direct to bypass your software if you're working in standalone mode.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Eliza,

I did that for now and it's workin'.
However I ask my previous question because I rather have free inputs in Apollo and now both of them are plugged by Live.
I guess I have no options for now.

Anyway, thank you for your help:)

Best Regards

Hi KAY I've got ALPHA 50 from FOCAL ... I think you suohld'nt connect the two inputs simultaneously... Maybe you should use a Small mixer to connect the outputs of the appollo and the mpac, mix them to a Stereo outpu that you send to your FOCALs
