Be able to play/trigger pads even when they are muted

Pad mutes: If we mute a pad (on pad mute or the mixer) the pad will stop playing it's sequence and not produce any sound even if we hit it.
It would be great if the pad mutes would mute only the sequence of the track and not the pad itself. In that way we could mute parts but be able to trigger sounds on the fly or use the note repeat on those muted pads. This can be really handy and turn the machine into a more live instrument.
For example: We have a drum beat going and we want to create variations and fills in that way we could mute the kick and the snare and create a drop and then by using the note repeat on the snare we can create a fill to put our beat back on. With out having to mute / un-mute pads to do this we save time and we are able to play stuff on the fly and immediately return to our sequences any time we un-mute our pads

I would explode the Pads to their own Track. That way you can Track Mute...AND... be able to play the Pad while its Muted

Not so bad idea but that's doesn't come handy at all when you have a live set for example? to produce something or have one track on a sequence with 100 tracks that produce one sound maybe!

Hey Emmanouil Simotas,

Thanks for posting!

That's a very interesting idea! Be sure to submit this as a feature request with the MPC 2 Software's built-in feedback module. The feedback module is represented by a smiley icon at the lower right side of the software next to the browser icons. This information goes directly to the Akai team for consideration!

If you need an alternative method of submitting feedback, you may use the following link:

MPC - Submit a Feature Request

Thanks for your feedback! :)

Just guessing (as MPC is out of reach right now), but can you work around with the Simultaneous Play feature?
--
The Simultaneous Play section lets you set up to four pads that can be triggered by pressing one pad only. This function
is useful for triggering a stack of sounds (e.g., layered kick drums). Use each Pad field to select the desired pad.

If Pad B-1 also triggers A-1, does sound (from A-1) play when A-1 is muted?

Just tried it out...B-1 wont trigger A-1 because its muted.

In a Live Situation...I would Copy Pad...that way he could Mute the Pad in the Sequence, but still freestyle with the Other Pad while the original is Muted

What about the other way around?

Pad A-1 - no sample - SimPlay -> Pad B-1
Pad B-1 - sample

Sequence with A-1, mute A-1, live-play B-1

BTW you could use a 2nd controller (MPD218?) to fire Midi notes for B-1 whilst MPC is on bank A doing mute/un-mute.

There's no Sample on A-1 according to your scenario. Simult is just for Triggering. Not Mute Controlling.

I believe the simplest way is to Copy The Pad. Sequence One Pad,...And Freestyle with the other Pad

is not a bad idea but you take to much space when you can have 16 sounds in front of your hand to trigger mute etc . they should just update it and when we are on the mixer and we are on mute we could trigger the pads. ( i guess that would not work on pad mutes page but could work on the mixer page)
