Hey Everyone!

I'm excited to announce that the 3.0.3 Firmware Update for the Force and the 2.6 Firmware update for the MPC X and MPC Live are released!

You can download the updates from your Akai Pro user account. Please see below for the release notes:
3.0.3 Firmware Update for Force and 2.6 Firmware update for MPC X and MPC Live

Akai Professional is proud to announce two new firmware updates for the Force as well as the MPC X and Live products. The updates feature multiple workflow enhancements alongside Ableton Live Set Export functionality, enabling users to move their projects from the MPC and Force ecosystems to the Ableton Live platform.

Users can now enjoy a seamless transition from the MPC and Force work environment into that of Ableton Live to take advantage of their favorite Ableton features as well as their virtual instruments and plugin collections. Akai Professional is proud to add one more tool into the immense palette for users to take their creativity and performance to unparalleled heights.

Updates Force 3.0.3 and MPC 2.6 also include a host of other new features and enhancements:

New in MPC firmware 2.6:

  • Grid Automation - Users can now input, edit and view automation in Grid Edit and Audio Edit.

Hi, confusingly the 2.6 firmware update does not appear at the top of the list is of downloads (at least on the MPC Live download page on the akai pro site). I thought it wasn't there until I searched the page for 2.6. Another point of note, there is an updated user manual with a section detailing additions for each subsequent firmware (which is nice).

If you mean one of those (cheap) pens that you can use with smartphones and tablets, the answer is yes, I use one myself. It's just a capacitive touchscreen. It's rather off-topic though. ;)

Go to akaipro.com . Look up your product, go to the download section, search for the update version on the page. For MPC at least, the 2.6 list wasn't at the top of the page so search for the version number. For MPC you get links to the MAC, PC and USB upgrade downloads.

For the software folks, just go download the demo and install that.

My account still shows 2.5, but it still showed 2.3 up until last month so it'll probably take a bit before the website updates everyones account and shows 2.6 for download. The demo was updated already and is running fine here so far.

New firmware disappointing.
For a simple reason.
Warp mode is still utterly and miserably useless....
Full of dreadful artefacts, and overlaps.
Even tuning a loop to match the beat is full of bugs and the sample needs to be saved as something new before it can be used in any way.
Can’t you just fix what is there, fundamental functions, before adding new features?
Same on Force and MPC Live. I own both.
Especially since the Force is advertised as an Ableton Clip launch loop based standalone machine.
There are so many great things about this product, ...except it fails miserably at one of its primary functions, still.

yeah i feel the same. its a great machine, i produce a lot of music on it, but this fundamental function simply doesnt work right. At least come up with another time-stretch algo like Cubase's Tape or Ableton's Re-Pitch warp mode. (which are basicly same as tuning the sample on Akai, but still works well without CPU).
Or another solution, as long as it works lol

For the warp mode i found that if you record a loop in a slow tempo, for example 120 bpm, and after when you use it you play it at 135 bpm, the sound is better and you don't ear the glitch problem. However in my force remain the problem of midi out that not work in any manner ( no midi clock out, no midi note out)

What’s up y’all!

Updated this morning and wanted to share an observation I forwarded to tech support over the phone today.

There is presently no “explode” function similar to the MPC line (to easily create stems of your drum tracks) in the Force update.

Currently the only way to cleanly create drum stems would be to solo the relative pads and then export (rinse & repeat). For the ALS export, you would have to manually create copies of the drum track relative to the number of stemmed parts & from there either edit away the parts, or use the solo pad trick per track.

"Force now works as an audio interface in Computer Mode" ....

No ASIO driver for Force? 20 ms is the lowest latency I could get with only available DirectX driver. Empty Ableton Live project, no FX, on powerful Win10 PC. Old and cheap interfaces can do better than that. Or am I missing something?

Any plan for a better ASIO driver for Force?

Does asio4all work?

I did not try. Usually had no luck with ASIO4ALL and staying away. As I understand it’s an overlay driver, so might not improve windows implementation. Efficient, AKAI designed and optimized for Force is not too much ask. Usually reputable companies make a bunch of drivers support for their good hardware, knowing this I said the face of their company.

Does this work with OS X 10.11? Why can't Akai provide compatibility info.

Hi,

Thank you, AKAI, for releasing the update and especially including Ableton Export, which is really essential for me.

It seems, though, that the export is not working as expected in one crucial respect: it does not seem to convert drum tracks into a drum rack in Ableton, including the samples. Is that possible? I would be very surprised, because that would be a very basic flaw. Of course, converting those tracks to audio works fine, but like that one would end up with just a stereo rendering of the drum track instead of something that one could actually work with in Ableton. I would appreciate your advice on this. Thanks!

Its been listed in your accounts registered downloads since the end of July when it came out. If not then go download it from the product page's downloads where its also been.
